Fulwith Mill Lane
The design for this private family home in a landscaped plot in a quiet part of Harrogate. I created the concept, developed all design drawings, took on Architectural and Contract administration roles, securing planning and building regulations approval.
The brief was to create a 3 bedroomed house and connected pool house that was modern yet sat well within the site context, allowing spaces to engage with the exterior spaces.
Timber cladding, drystone walling and zinc roofing were chosen to create a calm palette of natural materials which helped to connect the building to the garden whilst oversized openings open and close seasonally inviting a flow in lifestyle between the interior and exterior.
The predominantly north to south form allows the site to capture the sun, encouraging natural light to permeate into as much of the garden as possible without creating undue shadowing, whilst subtle level changes create interest to the internal spaces and respond to the existing topography.
The project is now close to completion following a year on site with principal contractors R.N.Wooler
